Abstract:This study aims to explore the awareness and behaviors of reverse care among terminally ill patients. Based on our analysis of 146 interview transcripts, reverse care at end-of-life encompasses the deep concern of the dying for their family members, such as reducing the care giving burden on their families, and expressing love, gratitude, apologies, and farewells. It also includes the concern of the dying for others and society, such as caring for the medical team and fellow patients, or making requests for organ and cadaver donations, eco-friendly burials, and simplified funeral arrangements. Therefore, we believe that the reverse care consciousness and behavior of the terminally ill can be used as an integral part of the theoretical construction and empirical research of the hospice cause.
