Abstract:Fear of death is a common psychological phenomenon of human beings, and death anxiety and death terror are two kinds of fear of death often encountered by people. The death anxiety is usually related to the core values and personal beliefs of individuals. The death terror is evoked by the concrete things and events which have given rise to terrible intensive feeling and fear accompanying with the biological response of body stiffness, cold sweat, and avoidance. Death anxiety is different from death terror, and they have different nature, ranges, and objects. The death anxiety always exists consciously or unconsciously, but the death terror occurs accidentally. And the two kinds of fear of death have different relationships with the individuals. To distinguish the death anxiety and death terror is to further study the death anxiety issues, and it aims to define different types of death anxiety, find reasonable methods to keep death terror peace, and construct the ways of alleviating death anxiety and transforming the death anxiety to meaningful ideas for the individuals.
